check for updates broken

SUGGESTED

i get the error

"error retrieving update information

An error has occurec whilst checking for updates.

the underlying connection was closed. could not establish trust relationship for the ssl/tls secure channel."

i believe its possibly due to the update server using TLS v 1.0 which since june 30 2018 has been obsoleted on the internet due to known vulnerabilities, our network team has blocked this accross the whole of the NHS, and so the update checker wont work until its updated to use the newer versions of SSL TLS.

please let me know if anybody from technical support can help? as i will not be getting automatic updates unless i check for new versions manuall yon the website and install them

    Hi Matt,

    Thanks for using Sage City.

This issue is usually resolved by installing the latest update to bring you onto the latest build of the software. Can you confirm what your full version number is showing as in Help > About please and I’ll be able to advise further.

    Hi Matt,

    Thanks for using Sage City.

I've tested checking for updates in both v25 and v26 and can confirm i don't get this error when having TLS 1.0 disabled. Auto updates is a shared component used across all Sage products across the world, I've asked a developer to confirm which version of TLS it's uses, we think it's TLS 2.0 but the developer required is currently on holiday.

I would recommend making sure all firewall exceptions are set on the data service machine as it's the data service that handles the updates. You can find all required exceptions here Make sure the time and date on the computer is also set correctly.

v26.0.84.0 was an early release for customers using Bank Feeds for the PSD2 change. I would recommend checking My Sage Downloads from Thursday for an update if your auto updates isn't working.
