PRODUCT Q

I am new to PRODUCT recording on SAGE and need help!

It looks to me that PRODUCT fields are for all units of sale (eg 1 piece price 0.18 weight 15 grams). But no provision for units of warehousing/transporting/ordering?

For writing purchase orders/warehouse/transporter the units for booking are in terms of bale dimensions  (eg 1000/bale cost £110 weight 50kg or 100/bale cost £130 weight 775Kg or 11000/box etc)

In the product record, where can I record units in terms of bale quantities? or is their a work-around?

    Hi Rob,

    Thanks for using Sage City.

Although you can enter the weight, in kilograms, of a product item in the relevant product record, this is for reference purpose only.

Sage 50cloud Accounts is designed to deal with products by whole quantities rather than weight, etc.

As a workaround, you could enter the weight value of one unit of sale for the product as the quantity, however, this can become complex if you have a mixture of products in quantity and products in weight in your product list. If you call out Support team on 0191 479 5955 and they’ll be able to show you examples of this workaround in your software.

Alternatively, you can log this as a suggestion to improve our Sage 50cloud Accounts software on our Ideas Board.

To log your idea select Submit an idea and then complete the form. Once logged, we’ll be able to use your idea and help us to shape your Sage software. Other customers will also be able to vote on your idea.

    Regards,

Woops! lost the thread. Weight is a side issue really. We need weight only for reference. What we do need to record/report (in addition to unit price) is pack size (eg 100 sacks in one bale). The bale is the unit that the Warehouse and transporter use to receive and deliver the goods, and to invoice us for the services. We can not tally stock without this Warehouse unit. We are not alone. Certainly textile processing companies all use these two units to do business - invoice in pieces and order process in bales. I will look into posting a suggestion for developers.
