Upgrade Sage version - ODBC Compatibility

SOLVED

We need to upgrade one off our clients to Sage 50 v25 from v23.  However, their Access database has ODBC links to the current version.  Does anybody here know about the ODBC connector?  Specifically, when we upgrade, will the ODBC links still work, or does the upgrade have the potential to break?  In other words, is the v25 Sage ODBC driver backward compatible?

I've tried contacting Sage Office support but have not had any response after a few days.

Thanks.

    Hi,

    Thanks for using Sage City.

When you upgrade from v23 to v25 you'll get the new ODBC driver, it'ls likely that whatever you were using ODBC with will need point to the v25 source rather than v23.

We haven't actively removed any tables from ODBC so what was readable previously in v23 should still be available in v25.

Further information on ODBC can be found here

Thanks Ian, that's great.  I also just discovered that the Access database uses SDO to post transaction data to Sage.  Will the programming code for that be compatible too, or might it need a rewrite?  We are not Sage developers so not sure of the best approach.

SDO is slightly different to ODBC with it being able to post to Sage 50. Again we haven't removed any functionality from SDO but you may need to reconfigure access again to use it. With it being Access this should be fairly straight forward but we don't offer support around this, you may need to reach out to whoever set it up originally.
