Report Designer - Group by one, Sort by another

SOLVED

I want to create a SOPS report

Outstanding SOPS

Grouped by Sales Order

Sorted by Due Date (Sales_Order.Despatch_Date)

I've tried using a standard report; however, I can't seem to change to details to allow both grouping of items by order number and sorting by date.

Can any one point me in the right direction?

I'll post more information if requested. although I have created reports and layouts before, I am a beginner in report designer and reply on information online to allow me to solve issues. I cannot find anything similar at the moment.

Thanks in advance

    Hi Karina

    Thanks for using Sage City

You can add section headers and footers to determine the order in which items appear on a document:

    Thank you for replying Fiona

I have gone through the help page along with a few of the links and it doesn't help (or at least I'm not grasping it)

I am using the default, Sage produced report : SOPOUT,REPORT

    I have the group SALES_ORDER.ORDER_NUMBER

I want to arrange this group in order of Due Date (SALES_ORDER.DESPATCH_DATE)

It will only allow me to arrange in order of the group (...ORDER NUMBER)

If I change the group to ...DESPATCH_DATE so I can arrange it in ascending order,  then it groups every order by date, rather than by Order Number.

I have figure it out after applying filters to help me analyse the data better.

When I was adding a new group header and footer I was transfering the information from "ORDER NUMBER" to "DESPATCH DATE". This was causing issues.

Where as the solution is to add the DESPATCH DATE header above the ORDER NUMBER header, and keep all of the data / variables where they were: the encapsulating group (DESPATCH DATE) sorting trumps the sorting within.

I hope that makes sense in case any one else has a similar issue!
