Avast blocks start up

We recently moved from a really old version of Sage to Sage 50.

Initially we couldn't get Sage to run at all, then found that disabling Avast for a few minutes allowed it to do so. Further investigation led to me adding all things Sage to the Avast exclusions section, still no luck. I'm guessing(hoping) that someone out there has had the same issue and there's a simple fix! Any advice gratefully received.

Cheers

Just to add what's happened in the last 24 hours or so.

So as mentioned, the other day I added the exceptions recommended to Avast. It worked perfectly on the Sage pc but did not work for another pc that networks to it.

Tonight the Sage pc had windows updates, so I restarted it, and Sage wouldn't  open companies again, even though the exceptions were still in place this time. (I disabled Avast for a few seconds and of course it works again).

So I tried to narrow it down, it seems it’s just the Avast firewall that’s stopping it, so I ditched the exceptions and just switched Avast firewall off on the Sage pc, restarted a couple of times, and it works again. The obvious snag here is that it was working this time yesterday, and then decided today that it wasn’t for no particular reason – nothing had changed.

Anyway, I'll continue down the firewall route and see what happens.
