I'm trying to make the Sales Order number the Filename, so selected the SALES_ORDER.ORDER_NUMBER variable when the message appeared.

The error is happening because an alphabetic value is expected but the sales order number is a numeric value. It may be possible to resolve this using the C String function, but that's a little involved to go through in this forum. I'd recommend contacting Sage Technical Support either by Webchat or a phonecall to resolve this.

In looking at old layouts done by someone else, I've almost solved this …. the expression I have put in is "Sales Acknowledgement" + SALES_ORDER.ORDER_NUMBER.

This almost works, except it come out as 'Sales Acknowledgement[Order no].pdf rather than 'Sales Acknowledgement [Order no].pdf' (i.e. there's no space after acknowledgement).

Do you know how to fix this? - I'm sure it's something really obvious!

All you need do is add a space after the word "Acknowledgement" and before the quote mark
