Is there a straight forward way of removing items from stock which are being given as FOC samples to customers? I want to be sure that I am capturing the cost as a 'sample' and not as 'materials' COS.
Thanks!

Hi Katie,
Thanks for using Sage City.
You can post a Write off (WO) transaction to record stock that has been given away as a free sample. To post this go into Products and services > Returns > drop WO - Write off into the Type column when entering the line in the Returns screen.
A WO transaction decreases the quantity in stock.

Hi Paul
Thanks for the answer. Can i ask how that affects the finance side of things though? Does it move the cost of those stock items from purchases to a Write Off nominal code? Is there a report option which will give me the cost of the write offs?

Katie
