Stock traceability in Sage 50 cloud with stock module

SUGGESTED

Hi

I'm pretty new to using Sage 50 Cloud and I have no idea whether this is possible! The company imports furniture (sofas, chairs, footstools) and uses the stock module to track the items coming in and going out which was working fine until we were asked if we could also track the fire regulations batch code for each item in Sage too.  This would mean recording which stock belonged to each batch as it comes in and goes out. Clearly we don't want to create separate stock items for each batch as this would be time consuming and create a very bloated stock list. We've also been asked to include the batch ID(s) on the sales invoice but  there might be several batch IDs linked to each invoice.I have found some information about traceablity in Sage but it seems to refer to a manufacturing module https://ask.sage.co.uk/scripts/ask.cfg/php.exe/enduser/std_adp.php?p_faqid=30849

Can anyone help with this? If it means an additional module then that's not necessarily a problem.

Thanks

    SUGGESTED

    Hi Jo,

    Thanks for using Sage City.

You couldn't really record which has come in on which batch unfortunately. You could look to use the reference field when processing purchase orders so you can get some traceability but it would be pretty difficult to then track what stock has gone from each batch.

You can create separate stock items as suggested but would end up with a lot of stock.

It might be best to look in to manufacturing.

Thanks. I thought that might be the answer but was hoping there might be another option that I wasn't aware of.
