Cost Codes

SUGGESTED

I have 3nr items on a purchase order from 1 Company. Obviously I can select a different "Product Code" for each line that is entered but I cannot have a different "Cost Code" for each item. for example;

Line 1; SW100 - 50mm x 50mm softwood.

Line 2; HW100 - 200mm x 50mm hardwood.

I can have / create "Cost Code" 3000 Softwood and 3500 Hardwood but they cannot be mixed on the same Purchase order.

My vision was to have "Cost Code" 3000 Softwood and then to drill down to SW100, SW200, SW300 and so on.

Am I missing something?

Can the "Cost Codes" be mixed as well as the product codes?

Regards,

Paul.

My first question would be what version of Sage are you using ?

Are you using real product codes? I'm using Sage Professional and  under Products you can assign an individual cost code to each product.

A screenshot or two of what you are doing would be very useful to help us answer your question.

    Hi ken,

    Thank you for your reply.

    Using Sage 50 Accounts.

We are currently under using the package at the moment.

Only been here a short while and trying to use the Sage programs full potential.

I am on the "Demo" version so as to not interfere with our accounts.

Can't get the codes to work how I want.

Is this query to do with Sales ? Are you trying to create a Sales Order from the Purchase Order?

Is this for Sales reporting ?

Or Are you  trying to use Project Costing rather than Nominal codes (which is what I thought you were querying). Totally different kettle of fish. Which is it? Nominal or Project?

You can post charges to projects using those codes you show in the 2nd screenshot

    Please clarify.
