Hi Michelle,

The software will need to be closed when you apply the update. 

The problem sounds related to the data service not stopping.

The error codes you’re getting aren’t unique to v28.1, if you use the help article below and just replace where it says ‘v27’ with ‘v28’ you should be able to get it installed

'Installation not complete' Error code 1603 and 1921 when installing the Sage 50cloud Accounts v27.1 or v27.2 update

Yess!! One machine is done. I renamed the sage service folder (in windows/temp/net) and then I just had to manually stop the service, which moved the installation forward. Just trying to get same thing done on another machine..

A shot in the dark, but are you the amazing Scottish Ian from the sage support helpline? If not, there's clearly two amazing Ians - so thank you!

Ahh your surname lead me astray ;)  (Many moons ago, the Scottish Ian and I used to have good old hash over SAPA formatting). 

Finally got the second machine to finish the install... two more to go tomorrow!
