Sage about to delete all of our records unless we agree to pay them whatever they demand

I have used Sage accounts for more than twenty years. About a week or so ago I was told that Sage would be denying us access to all of our records (hundreds of thousands of items) unless we agreed to start paying them a monthly fee of what started at around £140 and eventually was reduced to £27. This is a ransom. "We have all your records and if you don't pay us we will deny you access to them. I will not give in to this. Sage software is very good but their customer service is lamentable. Right now with the biggest recession ever experienced in this country about to happen and they are stupid enough to think that they can take advantage of customers.

Oh, and they said if we want to keep our 100,000 records we can dowenlaon them onto an Excel spreadsheet.

When it comes to submitting our next tax return to HMRC we will tell them our records were all witheld by Sage. In the meantime we will find another accounts software provider.

Several days ago they agreed to escalate our complaint and get back to us but, of course, with only eight days to go before they withold everything we have heard nothing.

  • Hi Michael,

Thank you for posting, and I'm sorry this hasn't been resolved for you more quickly.

If you contact our Loyalty team here, they'll be able to escalate your query through their channels. They'll then arrange a callback for you from one of their Managers to discuss this further.

    Regards,

    Andy

    Hi Michael

I totally agree with you. I did'nt realise that you had started this thread. I started a thread headed .....

Som say it's Sage Ransomware, Is this legal ?

Sage are only interested in getting everyone to pay monthly for something they have paid Sage for in the past in full many times over.

I am also a long term Sage user, best part of forty years.

It will be interesting on the 1st October when buinesses are unable to operate.

Sage asked me to conatct their Loyalty Team as well.  Eventhough I had contacted them on several occasions. The people you speak to all use the same Scripted statements. I asked for a call back from the Decision Makers. Still waiting.

Yet Mr Hare is lording it with his vision for Sages future on various publications.

Publications that will not bring up what and criticise Sage, probably because of the Advertising revenue they would lose

    Maybe they will next month.
