If you send them to Excel, delete the blank line after the column headers (line 2) - then save as CSV . Should do what you want unless you've forgotten to tell us something about how you are exporting the data

I am exporting these as CSV files directly from the sage. 

Just to confirm - the workaround you've mentioned above is the only way to have it? No way to directly export the CSV file from reports?

A brief look around here seems to echo the answer that there isn't a way of exporting headers with a csv directly. You'd have to add them in afterwards.

If you are using v28 then there is now a way to export headers as it was a feature that we added but haven't really shouted about or advertised.

Assuming you are on v28 then simply edit your report and change the 'Generate Header Rows' property to true. You'll find this in the CSV Option section of the properties window (View -> Properties) and should give you what you need. Note that the value used for the header will us the name property of each variable, but if no name has been set it will us the underlying field name.

Additional question: How do I make these headers to particular strings of words, etc? I have found a way to create a name for a data field, but it does not allow to include a space and I need the headers to be exact to work in the new system.

If you export the name using an underscore instead of a space, you could open the csv with your favourite text editor and replace all the underscores by spaces on the first row.  (If using WIndwos, you'll probably need to rename it with .txt instead of .csv, do the edit, and rename back.)

I can sure do it by opening the file in excel too, but this would be an extra complication meaning that everyone in the company would have to manually edit the file for each order they want to upload.. There must be a better solution?

Worth raising this as an idea as not supporting a space in the header name sounds like an oversight.
