Can you be a bit more specific about what you mean by "downloaded to excel a nominal ledger"?

My first understanding would be using the "Send to Excel" from the Nominal Codes module.

Then you mention "deleted the "cancelled" and "deleted" transactions" which implies to me you've exported [some of] the transactions.

I use the nominal link in modules. Click on Activity, type in the nominal code and show to Prior Year. I then "send to excel" all transactions for the period to 31/12/2023.  The ledger is exported to a spreadsheet.  When I sum the total of the Debit Column the figure is £2,015,322.17. On the screen the ledger stated the debit column is £1,967,516.78.  For the credit column the sum on the excel sheet is £2,131,544.11. On the screen the ledger states the credit figure is £1,873,909.45.

Any idea why figures are different?

I may have misunderstood the question but would the reason not be that you're only exporting the activity for one nominal code?

That code will only have either the debit or the credit from the journal, the other side would be on another nominal code.

I'm not looking for the debit and credit for each transaction. I am looking to download into excel a list of transactions that are on a nominal ledger and the totals at the bottom of the screen to match the totals of each column on the excel spreadsheet.

It's just you said

That would mean you'd only be viewing the nominal activity in Excel for one code.

Would it not be better to use the Nominal>>Reports>>Nominal Activity (NOMACT) report, using the "Data to Excel" option?

You could preselect the nominal codes in which you are interested (or leave blank to select all or a range within the report), as well as giving a date range (eg your prior year).
