The financial year in Sage 50 Accounts runs for 12 months from the month you specify when you set up your company in the software. However, you can effectively shorten the financial year by moving the starting month, you can read more about his in the following article: How to shorten the financial year >

The software recognises the months of the financial year rather than the individual days, so you would need to specify a whole month rather than a date within a month.
