Sage 50 says that I have insufficent disk space to save but there is plenty of room

SUGGESTED

I'm trying to back up my data to our server. We are getting the following message:

Previous back ups have taken up around 66000kb. The server in question has 1.2gb remaining.

I have deleted some previous back ups but this hasnt helped. Why is this suddenly a problem?

    Hi Jonathan,

    Thanks for using Community Hub.

This may be an issue with the contents of the Temp folder on the computer that holds the data. Can you turn off concurrent backups for now, you can do this in Settings > Company Preferences > Parameters  and clear the 'Enable check data and back up with users logged in' check box. Then try creating a backup again.

If the back up routine now works, this indicates that the Temp folder is the issue on the computer with the data and you should clear the contents of that folder and check the permissions to that location. You can then re-enable 'Enable check data and back up with users logged in'.

    Thank you Andy,

The first part definitely works. Once I unchecked this it all worked again.

The second part, I cleared the temp file, but now when rechecking the box, the back up gets caught in a loop of checking the data snapshot but doesn't seem like its going to complete the job. I can work with the box unchecked, and backing up at the end of the day when everyone else is gone so I'm happy my query has been resolved. But if that box has to be checked, or you have solutions for someone that wants that box checked then please continue to offer solutions.

    Thanks

    Jon

Pleased we're part of the way there!

When the box is ticked the software creates a snapshot of the data and attempts to save it in the Temp folder, when its not ticked, it doesn't.  So the issue is with saving the file to that folder.

We know the folder is cleared out so it's not down to capacity so that suggests it's down to permissions and the ability to write to that folder, which would be something for local IT to support where they can.
