Inventory / stock issue

SUGGESTED

We had a massive problem with sage as it was crashing. It was due to holding too much data (since 2012). We called sage technicians and they have suggested to archive and get rid of data all the was to 2018 witch means 6 + years would remind. We have done it all and our sage works fine. However, it has affected our stock figures and now the stock is showing massive amount lower then it should. How to fix this? Should we just journal in and out opening and closing stock to make sure all is back no normal? thank you for any help.

    Hi LINKS,

    Thanks for using Community Hub.

Archiving and clearing the audit trail should not impact the actual values, for example, if you had 1000 transactions making a balance of £3000 and all of those transactions were fully paid and fully allocated, clearing the audit trail would remove the 1000 transactions and post a journal for the £3000 so the balance would still be the same.

I think we need a bit more information here to be able to dig further into this. do you know the balances before you ran the Clear Audit Trail? When did you run the Clear Audit Trail up to and what was the value of the journal posted? If you run a check data routine through Files > Maintenance are there any errors posted?
