Q&A from today and previous sessions

Question Answer
What happens when the opted out employees circumstances change re pay when they are now below the £10000 pa thresholds.  Will they still be auto enrolled into the pension scheme.  For any employees who's circumstances have changed when they are assessed, if they now fall into the non-eligible criteria they will not need to be re-enroled it is only for eligible employees at the time of the assessment.
On re-enrolment can you still use the postponement window for new employees Yes, as a new employee would not have previously opted out or left your pension scheme, you can apply postponement to these employees. You can't postpone re-enrolment for those who meet the criteria to be re-enrolled, but you could choose a different re-enrolment date up to 3 months after the anniversary of your staging/duties start date or previous re-enrolment date.
If I have sent out letters out and they have come back and asked to remain
Opting out. Do I still have to re=enrol them?
As the employees are only able to request to opt out after being re-enroled they would still need to be re-enroled but you would need to check with The Pensions Regulator.
We run payrolls for a number of organisations. When we see the manage cyclical re-enrolment setting screen does that trigger their re declaration of compliance with TPR or is it vice versa?  The re-declaration is something you do outside of the program itself, via the TPR website, the manage cyclical re-enrolment setting is where you can set you re-enrolment date choosing a date 3 months prior or 3 months after the staging date anniversary.
Do you have to auto-enrol employees when they have personal pensions which they and we already pay into? If that personal pension was a qualifying workplace pension scheme you wouldn't have to. If it's not, you'd have to put them back into your scheme and they could then opt out again. If not sure, check with the pension provider.
We have a member of staff, who previously was auto-enrolled.  However, due to reduction in hrs, no longer meets the eligibility criteria for auto-enrolment.  We've had a  general chat and he wants to continue with his pension.  My question is:  are there specific forms/letters and actions to issue to him to officially 'sign-up' to continue with his pension. In regards to processes in Sage 50cloud payroll there would be nothing additional to do if the employee is already in the pension scheme, however the advice would always be to check with your pension provider as different providers may require different things specific to that provider.
I have changed re-enrolment dates from 1st to 6th to run with Sage tax months.  Will this make a difference to contributions? It would mean that the first contribution would be a normal monthly contribution and would not include a pro rata amount. This is preferable to some pension providers.
If you make your re-enrolment date 6/11/22 can you assess in November payroll and deductions would come off in November? Yes, as the re-enrolment date will be 6th November and the pay date in this tax period will be your November pay date.
Was reenrolling a client on 1 July pay date 1 July.  One employee opt-out on last reenrolment.  She has not been paid this year as she is casual as and when required.  When i did reenrolment it still showed her as opted-out.  No exclusions set.  Why is this? Not if she wasn't paid any wages in the PRP your re-enrolment dates falls into, as they are not eligible.
I have 2 directors who have private pensions so are not enrolled in the company pension.  Do we have to go through the optin/opt out process. Yes, if they meet the criteria to be automatically re-enrolled (ie. they're a eligible jobholder) they will need to go back into your qualifying pension scheme and then opt out again if they want to.
