Sage 50 Payroll output compatible eft file for Barclays.NET?

SUGGESTED

I see a similar question in this link here but i'm not sure if it relates to Barclays.NET business online banking.

https://communities.sage.co.uk/product_support_community/f/30/t/1859

My question is can I export payroll data in EFT to a file format that can then be imported into Barclays.NET so we don't have to type all the 95 employee pay values in each month.

Ive tried the Barclays Business Master plug in as a test and Barclays.NET rejects the file.

The answer to the similar post on here recently suggests asking Barclays to change their system to accommodate the Sage output file but unless i've misunderstood the query, that can't be correct can it?
Surely the banks have a set criteria for the file type, field lengths etc they can accept and it should be relatively simple for Sage development team to map there data fields in an output file.

Many Thanks

    Hi,

We have a lot of customers using ebanking who bank with Barclays  and it will export using the Barclays Business Master plugin. If that isn't working, then you could try using the Barclays Business Master Master Lite plugin. Alternatively, you can speak to Barclays and see if they can assist you with why the file won;t upload.

Another option would be to use Sage Payments which negates the necessity to have to produce files to export and import into your banking software. It sends it straight to the bank, more information can be found here.

    Thanks

I am still struggling with this.

The download for the BusinessMasterLite and the BarclaysInternet Banking components for Sage 50 Payroll seem to be the same filename so I assume they are the same. I have however tried them individually just in case.

Is anyone successfully taking Sage 50 Payroll data output files and directly importing it into Barclays.Net?
We do this regularly by exporting a Barclays.Net compatible file from our ERP payments system that just imports fine into the Barclays.Net browser. If I open in a text editor and examine my working ERP file and the Sage 50 Payroll file then the order of the data is not the same.

I'm just wondering if anyone can reply to say Sage 50 Payroll to Barclays.Net is actually being done (in which case I will persevere) and not that it 'should' be possible.

I will check with Barclays technical support but as I don;t have any control over the Sage output file format apart from the file extension then I am not sure what they could do.

    Many Thanks

    Hi,

We have a number of customers using e-Banking who bank with Barclays, exporting successfully using both the BusinessMasterLite and the BarclaysInternet Banking plugins for Sage 50 Payroll.

There are a few variables that we would need to check with you to help you get this up and running. Therefore, on this occasion, it would be better if you could contact our Support team either via online, email or telephone (please scroll to the bottom of the page once you've clicked the link) in order for us to give you the most appropriate solution.

Hi. I use e-banking every month to create the banking file for Barclays.NET. I have e-banking enabled and use Component Barclays Business Master II. The config section only shows the common directory as the area I wish to store the file. No other entries on this config page. When you run your e-banking it will create a notebook type file with no file extension. This is then imported in Barclays.NET as a Sage type file and then submitted. Are you choosing the correct file type when attempting the import?

    Hi Chris,

Thanks for the reply - I think I am nearly there now.
I noticed a 'File Conversion' option on the Barclays.net web page - this opens a new Barclays window where I upload my Sage Payroll file and it converts it and then gives me a link to ubsequently download a converted file to my PC.

I import this converted file into Barclays.NET in the usual way and itnitial checks say it appears to be OK. We will be trying this for real next week.

It was my intention to reply to my own question with how I fixed it once I was sure it was a solution.

So, in my instance, the file converter on the Barclays.NET site was the bit I was missing.

    Cheers.

No problem! I am curious to know why you would need to do a file conversion. You should be able to attach the file as a Sage/SIF file without needing to convert it. Are you saving the file as a csv or excel possibly? If you are then that would be why it needs to convert the file.
