Sage 50 Payroll and DotNet 4.6

Hi All,

For the second time, we've had difficulties here when trying to register the Sage 50 Payroll software online, with dotnet 4.6.1 installed on the PC. During installation of Sage 50, the version 4 clients get installed, (which if you're quick enough to register online with before our corporate policy gets applied to the PC) facilitates software registration with the Sage servers.

If the PC has dotnet 4.6.1 installed before the Payroll installation, it requires removal first, and fingers-crossed that 4.6.1 doesn't go back on before you can register!

Has anyone else encountered this problem? Last I spoke with Sage, this was not a known problem with any sort of fix. More than one customer having this problem may mean Sage are more able to address it.

Thank you

John

  • Hi John,

Thanks for raising this with us.

I've had a look into this and can confirm that it's not something that we've had other reports of as yet. When installing Sage 50 Payroll, it will check if .NET is installed. If it is, it skips that part of the installation. If there's anybody else experiencing this then we would value any feedback.

I'll raise this with the relevant department at our end.

Sage 50 Payroll is supported on all of the following operating systems:

    Microsoft Windows 10, 8, 8.1, 7, Vista, Server 2012, Server 2012 R2, Server 2008 and Server 2008 R2.

    Thanks,

  • This is on Windows 7, btw. Second occurrence I've experienced. Uninstall of both Sage and dotnet can get very messy and in the latest attempt, means I can't actually even get Payroll installed again without it failing - the user is going to use a different PC.
  • Thanks for the info John. Let me know if you need any help at all.

If there's anybody else experiencing this, then please let us know.

    Thanks,

    Brian
