Weekly payments

I think I am out of sync, please can someone tell me what week we should be paying this week.

I have just paid my staff for last weeks work (w/c 21/3/16), which on my (manual) P32 makes it week 52.

However, shouldn't this week be paid in 2015/16? If I leave it as it is, this week will be paid in 2017/17.

I usually process the payroll on a Wednesday and staff should receive their pay by Friday. Our working week runs from Mon-Fri,  not sure if these make a difference.

    The date you set your process date to when you process payroll determines the tax week/month you’re paying for, regardless if you pay your employees in arrears or advance.

     

    Even though your payroll week for last week commenced on 21 March 2016 (week 51), if your process date was set to a date in week 52 and you don’t process your payroll dated on a Monday or Tuesday, this is the final payroll of your 2015/2016 tax year.

    If you do process your weekly payroll dated on a Monday or Tuesday, you will have a week 53. For full info on this you can refer to Ask Sage article 11270.

    Thanks for the quick response.

    I set my payroll process date to Friday. ie. last week's work has been paid this week, with a process date of 1/4/16.

    Is this correct then, as that would make sense then to be on Week 52?

    I'm completely baffled, maybe my head's still in holiday mode!!
  • Yes thatâ€Tms correct Nathalie, Friday 1 April 2016 is week 52.

    Your next pay day will be Friday 8 April 2016, which falls into week 1 of the new 2016/2017 tax year,
