I hope I'm posting this in the right place. I've just had an email about the payroll year end update being mandatory from Monday. Does this mean I won't be able to get in my program without installing it? Why do they keep making them mandatory

Hi Florence yes theres a message that appears when you open your program that says its to make sure everones using the right legislation. I know the living wage actually kicks in from the 1st of April, so maybe its to do with that?
From my own experince, in all the panic I once forgot to install my year end update. I used the wrong version for 3 months before I noticed the tax was wrong! I had to reprocess everything!! I suppose its better to be safe than sorry!

Thanks Charlie, you're right. I have over 100 employees on different hours, I hate when I have to reprocess anyone's pay, never mind everyone's. Thanks.

No problem. I installed mine early so I wouldnâ€t get caught out this time!! I used the info on this website if it helps - my.sage.co.uk/.../50payroll.aspx Good luck! :)
