We process our payroll on a fortnightly basis, next run on Monday 22nd pay date 24th...next one would be 5th April, pay date 7th April. What date should we process our year end and do we have a week 53, very confused!

I notice this query has slipped through without a community response, sorry for the late reply but I thought I’d pop something back to you :)
It is the date employees are being paid that decides this :) the new tax year started 6/4/21, so 24/3/21 is in the 20/21 tax year and Year End could be completed once that period is fully processed and any submissions required are sent to HMRC. The pay date 7/4/21 is in the new tax year, so that would have been the first pay date of the 21/22 tax year.
