Where to save Sage 50 Payroll programs

SUGGESTED

We run two separate payrolls (each for a different company) and at present the program is saved on two laptops - so neither individual has access to the other payroll.  This is just not working for us.

We use Azure as a Cloud service, and our IT person advised that only Sage50 Accounts works via Azure - but that at some point Sage50 Payroll will be updated to allow this.  Any clues as to when this might be happening please?  Or if there is an alternative to saving on laptops please can someone advise?

Thank you

    Hi Aline,

    Thanks for using Sage City.

Sage 50 Payroll isn't currently supported with Cloud Servers or in terminal server environments, unfortunately we can't say if or when it will be but the situation is reviewed regularly so the position may yet change.

Your IT can attempt to run the software via Azure but if any environmental issues were encountered then Sage Technical Support would not be able to offer help and advice related to that.

It is possible to set up both Payrolls on a server, and again this could be set up by your IT, it would just be a matter of making sure both laptops can access the server where the data is stored. The other alternative would be to restore backups between the two set ups to be able to work both payrolls on both laptops.

This is very much a concern for us - we have a hard stop for location-based software for summer 2023 so if Sage isn't going to move Payroll to the Cloud then we will have to move providers.

I can't understand the lack of movement on this and I don't really want to go through the hassle of changing software but I don't have a choice.
