Our Sage 50 Payroll generally very slow

SOLVED

Hi,

Just trying to find out some information about why our Sage 50 Payroll install would be slow? This is a very small system we only have about 63 current employees in the system, the data files are stored on a server, the .mdb file is only 93MB, but yet it is slow, especially with reports. It only really has 3 user accounts and its only accessed by about 4 people, but only really one at a time. I just don't understand why such a small system would be so slow. We use Sage 200 as well, which is more widely used and its very quick compared to it.

I don't know if there is some way I can monitor the performance to find out someway of speeding it up.

Hopefully someone can shed some light so that the payroll person stops shouting at me for it being so slow.

    Hi Derrick,

    Thanks for using Community Hub.

You mentioned that the data is held on a server, so we need to test if there's something about the network that is slowing things down. The best way to do this is to test the software speed with the data on the same computer. If the server has an installation of the software, as well as the data, then you could test it there to see if there's an improvement in performance.

If the software isn't installed on the server, then the data could be temporarily moved to a computer on the network and used locally for testing purposes, if you need assistance with this, Sage Technical Support would be able to help.
