Salary Pension sacrifice

SUGGESTED

We have an employee who has just started a Salary Pension Sacrifice.

Prior to the sacrifice, he was paying 3% and we were paying 5% for the minimum total of 8%

He has sacrificed 6% of his pay, so that the total amount going to his pension has increased and is thus greater than 8%.  But Sage payroll pops up this warning:

despite the Information tab showing an increase in the total pension contribution compared to his previous pay.

An example explaining a salary pension sacrifice notes that the employee sacrifices his 5% whilst the employer stays at 3% and so the same amount goes to pension!

If I mark the sacrifice scheme as a qualifying scheme, another employee who has a 9% employer contribution on the normal scheme plus a sacrifice on the sacrifice scheme (so they are definitely giving over the 8% minimum) gets the above message whereas if I don't mark the sacrifice as a qualifying scheme they don't get the message!

Have I missed a setting on the Pension Schemes... (Salary Sacrifice Scheme  [X])? The scheme is being provided as part of a qualifying scheme to which the employee is already a member; or is Sage Payroll only looking at each individual scheme instead of the total pension contribution when determining when the pension contributions are above the minimum so that the above message should be displayed?
