Yes, if your regular pay date falls on 4 or 5 April 2024, you have an extra pay period this tax year, also known as week 53 and you need to process it as normal.

Do we need to change tax code to W1/M1 bases like previous tax years ?

After you finish processing 23/24 payments you need to clear the week1/month1 flag on any employees that have it set. The only exception is if HMRC send you a tax code to use for the 24/25 tax year which includes the w1/m1 flag.
