Add HMRC "Employee Statement" to "All Employee Header Details File" import template

We are experiencing issues with Sage 50 Cloud Payroll after using the "All Employee Header Details File" template to import new starters into Sage. The issue also occurs when using the "Employee Details" template. The steps to recreate the issue are as follows:

  • Use the "All Employee Header Details File" (or "Employee Details") to import a new starter into Sage. Make sure the "Starter Form" field is not 0.
  • After the import, go into Sage and attempt to amend the Tax Code
  • An error is displayed "Please select a P46 Statements ticked option"

The issue appears to occur because the HMRC Employee Statement (i.e. A, B or C) is not captured during the import.

The workaround is that the Employee Statement must be updated manually in Sage first, which then allows the Tax Code to be amended. However, this requires another step to retrieve the Employee Statement from an external system.

If the Employee Statement could be captured and imported on the "All Employee Header Details File", this would make the process much smoother.
