Financial Settings - Not Set

Hi,

I took-over a set of books starting in 2017.  The Financial Settings have never been closed.  Year end is 30 Sep.

Can I do this retrospectively now, setting each year?

I am worried that this will override other data.  Also, will this create an Accumulated P&L?

Hope someone can advise.  Thanks.

Thank you, Bee

    Hi Bee,

    Thanks for using Sage City.

In Sage Accounting you don't close down financial years, the data itself works on a cumulative basis. Instead, you simply update the Year End date. Then you can run the appropriate Year End reports for that particular financial year using the reporting filters. Use the Year End Lockdown date to lock any transaction that have been dated prior to the Lockdown date.

It's worth noting you don't need to change your Accounts Start Date at all. This is the fixed date that you started your accounts, not the new financial year start date.

I hope that has clarified the process for you but if not please see our Financial Year End guide here.
