National Insurance Rebate

A member of staff has requested a rebate on their national insurance. They went over the threshold in month 1 and have been under during the following months.

I've never had a refund requested previously, please can someone advise.

Hi Kay,

It isn't common practice to refund National Insurance. NI is calculated per pay run for all employees.

The only time you'd possibly be able to recover this amount is if the employee is a director. if this is the case, please let me know.

Hi Kay,

You wouldn't need to do anything in Payroll. It will do this for you automatically if it's applicable. This would either be in month 12, or when a leave date is entered.
