Setting up payroll

Hi I have just set up our payroll for the first time and by mistake I have put the first pay date as 05/04/24 (Week 53) however it should be 12/04/24 (week 1).  I have tried to change this but it won't let me do this using pay calendar. Will this cause any issues next week when I try to run my first payroll and if so what is the best way to remedy this?

    Hi Clarice,

    The error with week 53 needs to be put right before you run your first payroll week.

    It's fairly straight forward to put right.

    1 - let HMRC know about your error

    2 - Correct week 53. 

    • Read the article Correcting a completed pay run from section "Edit your completed pay run" -  sub section "To edit pay"
    • Edit week 53 and tick the Exclude Employee option on each employee payment screen. Complete the payment run

    3 - Optional - Give the HMRC server a few hours to update, then call them and check they are happy you have a clean sheet to start your new payroll with.

    4 - Run week 1 at the correct time.
