INFO : 2023 R1 - Syracuse 12.18 Prerequisites update (Enterprise Linux 8 only)

Sage X3 2023 R1 will be released in April 2023.

This release includes important security and technical compliance updates, including an update of the Syracuse Server Node.js framework to Node.js 18 for the Syracuse component (Syracuse 12.18).

Node.js for Linux is compatible only with Enterprise Linux 8 and not with earlier versions of Enterprise Linux.

Starting with Syracuse 12.18, delivered with 2023 R1, Sage will no longer support deployments of the Sage X3 Syracuse Server on Red Hat Enterprise Linux 7 or Oracle Enterprise Linux 7. The only supported version of Enterprise Linux will be RHEL 8 or OEL 8.

You must upgrade any Enterprise Linux 7 servers that run the Syracuse component to Enterprise Linux 8 before updating to Syracuse 12.18.

The update from 7 to 8 can be done in place without reinstalling any of the Sage X3 components, provided the Linux prerequisites and required libraries for Sage X3 are present. General guidelines provided by the Linux community for RHEL or for OEL platforms can be followed. Please review the general prerequisites for Linux on the Sage X3 Online Help (which will be updated with the 2023 R1 release). As for any update, please make sure customers apply maximum caution in any case (Test update, backups…)

Please note that this applies to the Syracuse Web Server. Partners/Customers will need to update any platform running the Syracuse Web Server, but the update is not mandatory on servers with no Node.js component, even if they run other Sage X3 components such as the Runtime.

However, Sage strongly recommends that Partners/Customers always update all their Sage X3 servers and instances to the latest supported releases of the operating system and all related prerequisites.
