Whats the version of Java you are running?

I would un-install java and then install the one from the 7.1 install files Sage\CRM\Utils\EN\JRE. That's what I've done in the past. I think you get a problem when java tries to automatically apply updates.

I'd keep Java strictly to version 6.27 for now even though I've had some success with later versions and patches.

I cannot get the version. The Java site with the Verify Version button does not run on the server. Weird?

I tried java -version at the command prompt but they gave a generic error about the command not existing.

How do I find the Java version?

If you go to 'Add or Remove Programs' it should tell you there the version. Are you logged on as admin? or is there some security policy blocking Java?

As David has suggested, if you are not running build 6 update 27 x86, I'd suggest downloading it and applying it.

Is this no good?

The Sage CRM service account is the same account as always. No security changes have been made to it. It is my understanding that the service account is used to run the Tomcat Server.

I've tried start the service using the Local System account with the same result - unexpected error.

If you can, go back to build 6 update 27 32 bit.

I personally haven't had much luck with anything above that, I know there are posts on here where others have, but, I am not sure if there is anything else they have had to do.

I have some installs working on the latest patch of Java 6, I usually need to install the patch and then re-install Tomcat via the 'service2.bat remove CRMTomcat6' command.
