Outlook 2010 integration / plugin language changes

Hi everybody.

We are having a strange phenomena on some of our systems regarding the Outlook 2010 integration:

After starting Outlook 2010 the CRM tab seems to be missing. But it's only the caption missing. After clicking on the tab you see the usual option. In the wrong language. See image below.

(Hint: We are running a German version of Outlook)

Restarting Outlook, reinstalling the plugin did not change anything. We even checked the registry, see image below. The language is set there to 'DE' - German.

At last we tried to deactivate and activate the plugin in Outlook. File -> Options -> Add-Ins -> COM-Add-Ins (on the bottom). There are two plugins ACCPAC CRM Addin for Outlook and SageCrmOutlookAddin2010. The latter we checked out, pressed okay and redid the procedure. Except that we checked the plugin in again. And then it worked:

Except that after restarting Outlook goes back in the previous state without caption and wrong language.

Does anybody have an idea how to solve this mystery?

Sage CRM Version: Version 7.1.h.1

Kind regards,

Marius

    Hi Marius,

Errors in the Visual Studio Tools for Office runtime are suppressed by default. This isn't really helpful. I reckon if you enable them you should be able to get a better idea of what's happening. Try adding the following two environment variables:

    Name Value

    VSTO_SUPPRESSDISPLAYALERTS 0

    VSTO_LOGALERTS 1

At this point, you should get some sort of useful error message, either onscreen or in Event Viewer.

    Hope this helps,

    Hi Rob,

thank you for your reply and your idea.

When starting up Outlook after registering the environmental variables and with the plugin enabled no alerts are shown. Neither on display nor in a log or event viewer.

    Kind regards,

    Hi Marius,

In Outlook, can you try going into File -> Options -> Customize Ribbon, and rename the CRM tab to something like Sage CRM? We had an odd issue recently where the tab settings for Outlook were being reverted every time a user exited Outlook.

    Thanks,

    Rob

    Hi Rob.

Thank you again for your ideas.

We tried that option today, but after restarting Outlook the empty ribbon appeared again.

We also tried to rename an existing ribbon, which stayed renamed after restarting Outlook. So Outlook does not reset the ribbon names generally after restarting.

    Kinds regards,

    Marius
