Sage CRM 7.2e Release Notes

Hi,

Can someone direct me to the release notes containing all resolved bugs etc... for 7.2e

It is usual for software developers to include these with any patches, however I am unable to locate them.

How will I know what it is fixing or breaking until I review some kind of release notes.

    Hi Julian,

The release notes can be found in the same folder as the Sage CRM 7.2e Patch. They are a separate PDF download:

    community.sagecrm.com/.../default.aspx

    Kind regards,

    Hannah

The zip file does usually contain the release notes but the 7.2e zip file I downloaded does not. It only contains the .exe :(

    Hi,

    The release notes are here:

    community.sagecrm.com/.../27268.aspx

The release notes, etc are indexed in the site search, so if you're logged in a search should find them.

    Thanks,

    Rob

Also, when hotfixes are released, please include the release notes in them as well.

That is not always possible because of the scheduling of work associated with Hotfixes, they go out of the door to the customers having the issues and then they get added to the partner area of this site (and other Sage sites) - the notes will be added typically at the time the hotfix is made available to download but they may not have been included in the 'installer'.

Sorry Jeff, I disagree with this. I think it's should be a basic duty to the developer community that Sage always includes release notes. It would not be difficult to also schedule this in as part of the hotfix. I think what we are trying to say here is that we shouldn't even have to request this type of document and should be part of the process. Even mickey mouse mobile apps contain release notes when they release an update. It gives people the choice whether to install it or not especially as the changes may very well effect the bespoke code changes us developers apply to the core product. I think this should be a given in all software releases and should not even be a problem.

Hotfixes and patches are not quite the same.

Please remember that the downloads made available on this site are made available only to members of the Developer Program and are there for testing and development purposes. The patches and releases for customer sites should really be obtained from your local Sage office partner portal or customer site. This is because additional testing is carried out for localized versions and for versions that are integrated with the various Sage ERP systems.

Patch installers that are released according to the patch schedule published to the Sage operating companies should always include release notes. It is regrettable when they are not included.

The Hotfixes are a slightly different matter as these are created to resolve specific issues that may not be relevant to the vast majority of customers and are typically distributed to partners and customers where a case has been raised to the local Sage team.

But for both patches and hotfixes it is the local Sage partner portal or customer site that is the recommended distribution point for use with Customer sites.
