It sounds like the company area code night be a required field. This is a little odd, since this shouldn't be available in the interface. I'd check if the Phone entity has been enabled for customisation, and check the field security. Alternatively it may be an issue with the field having been added to a dedupe rule.

Hi,

I have followed the steps in your above post to do data upload at my end and it seems to be working fine. One strange thing I observed that, the length of the area code field is different. Length of Phone area code at your end is showing 4 widestring and at my end it is showing 20 widestring. So there might be possibility that your area code column in excel sheet contains more data than its specified size i.e. 4 widestring or it may contains any junk data.

You haven't created a new field at company level with a caption of 'Area Code' that is a required field by any chance??

I've had a similar message in a system where they did this and I spent all my time looking at the phone table and then spotted the new field at company level!!
