RE: New to this and will need help please

I have just started with Sage CRM and it looks like a great system although I am struggling to understand how to change to custom fields.

Just using the trial version at the moment but the first couple of things I would like to change is the "Industry" and "Territory" fields.

Please can someone explain how to do this?

    I am assuming that you are talking about the fields on the company screen?

    The first thing to say is that the field 'Territory' that is shown on the company field which has the internal name 'comp_secterr' is a special field used by the user security mechanism to control which user can see what data in systems with many users. There is a very specific way that territories are defined and unless you are needing to create a complex structure I would suggest you leave well alone for the moment.

    The other fields like Industry, comp_indcode, are very easy to change. If you have admin rights, click on the admin menu and navigate to

    Administration -> Customisation -> Company

    On the field list look down to the field and click the 'selection' hyperlink for that field. You can then add the new allowed values that you want to use.

    Clicking the help button on that admin screen will bring up some very good help on this.
