Button groups are brilliant. But while you can use the SQL clause to look at the state of the data within the record, you can not look at the state of the mode (View, Edit etc). So you need another mechanism to control the button.

You can use the clientside API (in Sage CRM 7.2 onwards) for this.

I have assumed that you have used an image called 'test.gif' for the button.

Once you have added the new button to the screen using the Button Group code can be added to the custom content of the Lead screen.

If you want to make you code more 'system admin' proof so accidental changes do not take place, you can add the code into an external library that only applies the changes based on the system action.

Thanks for your kind response. i add my custom button in button group successfully on lead summary screen but when i click on "change button" then my custom button goes away. how can i stop this .

I would go about it a slightly different way, I thought to use the client side API to do this:

First I created a function to make my button, I just used the default button example given here:

I like Jeffs idea of using the client side API to get the mode though,I know actions can changed based on if they are a system admin user or not. I guess you just have to make sure the field you add to your code is never removed from the screen!

You can't use Drop in Code because you have no access to the server :-(

What you should be able to do instead is use an external reference library

Toby and Jeff , you guys are just legends . jeff i was reading about Drop-in Client Side Code, the link you shared.In it's documentation it was written that changes will not take place until you will not restart your IIS server. what if i m working on cloud base environment ?
