There are screenshots in the User Guides prior to 7.3 (I have looked at 5.8, 7.0, and 7.1) of Forecast Entry. In those screenshots, I see only IN PROGRESS opportunities. Now in the 7.3 Users Guide that screenshot is suddenly gone and I'm seeing all oppportunities in the application. This has to be a bug.

Is anyone able to reproduce this or verify that it is in fact a bug and that previous versions of CRM showed only In Progress Opportunities in the Forecast Pipeline?

I wanted to follow up on our findings in case anyone else is having this same issue because we've just 'solved' it today.

It turns out that because we had just gone live in August & were just getting around to Forecasts at the beginning of September, most of that quarter was already in the past (July & Aug). So of course there were a lot of closed opportunities muddying up the Forecast Entry screen. Now that we are preparing our forecasts for the upcoming quarter (Oct, Nov, Dec), all the Opps on the Forecast Entry screen are In Progress. Of course - because they're all in the future quarter. So, no more unwieldy mess.

So, as long as you do your forecasting for the FUTURE like you're supposed to, you won't have this issue.

With that said, it would still be nice if the Forecast Entry screens were exposed for customization, or if the existing screen allowed filtering or sorting. But at least the issue isn't as bad for us as I originally thought.
