I'm simply trying to show Saved Search results in gadgets for custom dashboards for our sales group. The data I'm pulling into the gadget is based on Communication Entity. The saved search works fine, and the gadgets used to populate results. Now I get this error, only on 4 of the 7 sales gadgets. 3 of the gadgets populate results using the same exact saved search criteria. The only difference is what user I'm pulling the data on.

I've searched this knowledgebase along with Google, and the 3 or 4 things I've seen offer no help to solve this issue. I've checked languages for the users producing errors. Why some users vs. others?

Any help/insight would be greatly appreciated.

Are you using the cloud edition or the on-premise edition?

My hunch is that this is something to do with security permissions. A Saved Search on the Communications entity will also be linked to the Person and Company record so any user in order to see all the data must have rights on the Person and Company table too. And if the Communication is linked to a Opportunity or a Lead then they may need rights on those.

I would look at the users teams and the security territory to see if there is something amiss.

    Jeff,

We are using the on-premise edition. I've compared security for two users who's profiles are identical. One user gives results in the gadget, one does not. Both have the same security settings and permissions.

It mightn't just be the entity rights - I recall there being a similar issue when users didn't have rights on reports (I think this happened when the gadgets were based on reports though). We've had this flagged as a possible issue when users didn't have rights to accounts, but if you've already checked the security permissions it probably isn't that.

    Thanks,

For the users giving gadget errors: I've played around with the saved search criteria and I think I have it narrowed down to two users that are throwing the error. When I remove them from the search criteria, the gadgets populate with data. I've compared both users security, teams, etc. to the users that are populating data and everything matches.

That said, the gadgets that are working fine also include these users in the search criteria and results. This is really frustrating.
