Is the CSV file to be consumed by another programme?  You may find it easier to have that consumer ignore the first row of the CSV file.

It will be consumed by another program.  It is an import file.  I was hoping that I would be able to exclude the column titles in my report.  If that can be done, I think this will work perfectly for me.

I feel that I really need to be able to create a report that I can send to a csv or text file because the data is drawn from two different tables with a one to many relationship.  Similar to how an Order is to its Order Details.  One Order to many Order Detail Items.

I have it all worked out in the view that I am using.

This is what the file is really going to look like when it is created.  I have been able to create a report like this in other programs by using sub reports.  I think I can get away with using a Union query in Sage CRM and if can get it to come out of a report and go to a csv file that would be great....but not so great if it will have the titles in it.

If I can do this, I am essentially done with the client's requirement.  

If not, I am going to have to rewrite this requirement in a different way.

Also, I am sure that the client will not accept having to open that file to remove the titles.  

Any assistance would be greatly appreciated so that I know how I need to proceed.

You may be able to fiddle with the translations to supress the text used to label the columns.  But that would probably cause more problems than it would solve.  I don't know of a way of switching that title row off.  I don't think there is a file you can change.

Thank you!  Obviously not what I wanted to hear. :-)  However, I thought that might the case based on your original response.  Bummer.

I wondered if I could adjust translations.  However, I will hold that as a last resort.

I am working on an alternative way of getting what I need to a text file.

If I don't get that to work the way that I want, I may go back and see about adding some script to open the file and delete the titles.

I will post separately if I have any issues with my alternative methods.

Do you need to run a CRM report?
Can you not run a sqlcmd or bcp in a .bat file on a scheduled task?

e.g run this from a cmd prompt or put it in a txt file saved as SQLtoCSV.bat

bcp could work for me.  It does if I fire the .bat file outside of Sage CRM.  I was going down that path originally.  However, I don't think I was able to launch the .bat file from a button on my page.

I need to be able to create the file from a button on a asp page.  It has been a couple of months since I looked at the bcp option.  Can I launch it from a button?  If so, that will work for me as well.

Hi Michele,

You are probably better off performing a stored procedure than trying to execute a cmd from a button href.

If you just want to hang your own button of a page somewhere to perform the export ( and you are not so bothered about where this is ) Why not consider having a option within an active workflow (visable only to you) that then executes a stored procedure. There are lots of examples online on exporting from a SP so that bit should be relatively simple.

You can decide exactly what gets created on the server and what gets written into the file.

Thanks Sean.  The client wants to be able to run it "at will" meaning whenever they want.  I am not sure if I can convince them to go with a stored procedure to be run at a particular time.

Darren:  I think I tried this previously.  I am able to export the file from a SP.  However, I could not get it to work from within Sage CRM.

I need the button on a list page and there is no workflow there.  Therefore, I am not sure if I can get this to work.

As your requirement is to hang this on a listpage then the WF idea wont 'fly for you.
