How to Create a Pre-Populated Quote as a Template?

SOLVED

Hi Everyone!

I have a client in the construction industry using CRM 2019 R1's quote feature.  Their quotes contain many line items (products) so they are very time intensive to create.

However, the quotes generally contain the same line items.

Therefore, it would be much easier to start each quote fully populated, and remove the few unnecessary line items.  That's what they're hoping to do.

I thought maybe I could create a test opportunity and attach a fully populated quote.  Then, clone the quote each time, and reattach it to the proper opportunity.  However, I see that quotes cannot be reassigned.

Could anyone please share their thoughts on how this idea of a pre-populated quote could be accomplished.

Thanks so much in advance!

    Hi Kevin

Through development we've made it so that you can clone across opportunities. Unfortunately there is nothing out of the box that will do this as far as I know. Not sure how our developer have done it, but the user would go to the opportunity where they want the quote, then click a custom button and find the quote to clone. There must be something about this process that provides the necessary IDs for the new opportunity and what record to read to get the information.
