Unfortunately CRM always does this, if you want to create a 'virtual' field and make it appear in Title Case, then you will also need to create some new Translations. Go to Administration | Customisation | Translations and create a new one

Caption Code = What the field is called within the view (e.g. Month)
Caption Family = Tells the system it is a 'column'
Caption Family Type = Tells the system is is the caption 
UK Translation = How you want to column to appear on screen/reports etc (populate whatever languages that are used by users) 

Hi this works for Quarter and Month, but yet the year still returns 2,022 and adding the translation for it doesn't change anything. Any thoughts on why it returns the year as a number?

You originally asked about the column headers being in lower case, adding a translation does nothing to the data itself.

If you want the Year to display as text then you need to amend your SQL view. Year(oppo_targetclose) will always return a number. You need to tell it to be text within the view e.g. CAST (DATEPART(Year,Oppo_TargetClose) AS nVarChar(4)) AS Year

I can make another topic if need be but casting as a varchar still displays as 2,022. My thought is that changing the number to a varchar maintains the , as a text character from the number value.

Have you done a Metadata refresh?
