I had this issue as well - going to System Behavior and setting "Custome server name for internal reqs" to http://localhost solved it for us.

Are you going over http or https?

Are you using Exchange Integration?  

I have spent the last four days fighting with switching us from http to https and getting Exchange sync to work correctly and finally got it right, and your error was one of many that I encountered.

I too have been struggling for days so I appreciate any feedback.  Also, I am curious are you working on a new install or an upgrade.

Ours was an upgrade also.

It's tricky, because so many things have to be set correctly for it to work, Tomkat is such a pain.

If you can tell me exactly what errors you are getting, that would maybe help narrow down what area is causing the problem.  

Also, check your System Health - are you green across the board, or are you getting red in some areas?

Also, I just remembered - go to IIS on your webserver and check your bindings for http - in our case , I had to leave the hostname blank
