3 Server Installation

Is it possible to use 3 servers for an install? 1 SQL Server, 1 Application Server, and 1 server for IIS/Web Services?

I have a client asking because they want to open CRM externally but only to the IIS server.

Thanks,
Anthony

    Hi

As you can see at the documentation Sage CRM is usually split in two servers. System architecture (sagecrm.com)

The Sage CRM server (application server) is where your application runs. As Sage CRM runs under IIS, it is not possible to run Sage CRM without IIS.

The application server is the server you must set up in a DMZ to secure the system in the case it was public and accessible through the internet.

In this case the Data Base Server should be outside the DMZ and inside your LAN to keep it safe and communicate with the sage CRM server through the Firewall.

In the other hand there are some Sage CRM services which can be split on additional servers as the Library or the Synchronization service with Exchange Online, to save space on the Sage CRM CRM or improve performance.

    Hope this helps.

    Hi Avolpe

Joining what TinoJovani has mentioned, though wonder if you are asking the question with other things in mind, for example adding into the mix Sage financials (in our case Sage 200).

We have in the past done a three server solution 1x SQL, 1x Apps (Sage 200) and 1x Web (CRM)

This way it then allows us only to expose the Web server and not the finance system.

  • And don't forget library location (documents/reports) can be located on a different server to the APPS & DB server.
