Opportunities displayed in the Pipeline of Forecast Entry

We are running Sage 7.3b and getting ready to use the Forecast functionality.

However, we are confused as to why Opportunities that have already been Closed, Won, etc. show up in the Pipeline?  Shouldn't the pipeline only display In Progress Opportunities?  We have users with hundreds of opportunities and it's unwieldy to find only the In Progress ones to include in their forecast.  See screenshot below.  Is there something we're misunderstanding?

    Hi Cheryl:

    The Forecast shows the opportunties that assigned to you and has forecast figures. It does not filter Status nor Stage. To understand more about Forecast, I would suggest you to check out the chapater 14 in the User guide.

    I have read both the User Guide & the System Admin guide regarding Forecasting. However - Forgive me if I'm missing something, but this seems like a bug to me. Why would I be including opportunities that are not In Progress in my Forecast? My sales team finds this unacceptable given that they have hundreds of opportunities that are no longer In Progress. It's impossible to navigate, especially given that you can't filter nor even sort on Stage or Status.

    Is there a workaround? Will Sage be fixing this and/or allowing us a way to change what we see here? Even the ability to sort would help.

    Also, there are screenshots in the User Guides prior to 7.3 (I have looked at 5.8, 7.0, and 7.1) that show a screenshot of Forecast Entry. In those screenshots, I see only IN PROGRESS opportunities. Now in the 7.3 Users Guide that screenshot is suddenly gone.
