Whether you are new at creating Reports, Financials, Dashboards, Macros, Templates, or someone with years of experience, the emphasis I’m sure you have is what is best for the customer, because that’s who’s paying your bills. That’s who calls you at the most opportune time, the customer who needs your help. And in return, they are helping you.

It is with this ethos in mind that we created The Report Store. I have tried to wrap my head around why Consultants are not uploading their reports, then I had this thought - you probably think that if you submit your hard-earned reports, you will lose your power. Your client won’t call you if they need you to make them a report. And worst still, someone else will steal your client away. The shroud you have worked so hard to create with your customers will disappear. The “value-added” costs you charge your clients will no longer be there.

Let me tell you what will really happen. During my 17 years of consulting, I always prided myself in giving the customer all the tools I possibly could to make their journey the easiest possible. And in return, it made mine easier too. If they could do their own check run, I would set them up with the tools to do this. If they were out-sourcing their payroll, I would set them up with payroll - put them in charge of their employees. They will thank you.  If their data got corrupted every time a big piece of machinery was turned on, and they would have to call me in to fix their data, I would suggest a power supply  to fix their problem. I know – why not just keep making easy money fixing it?

It’s all about integrity. And do you want to know something? I not only got that customer over another Consulting firm bigger than mine, but 10 years later, I still had that customer. They trusted me when I told them they had to purchase another piece of software or hardware, or do an upgrade, or need a particular report to get at the information they wanted. And they grew from a network of swapping diskettes, to 5 large manufacturing locations across Canada and the United States, with hundreds of products, and employees. How much money do you think we made from that one company to whom we suggested a simple power supply?

And that’s what I want you to understand. We won’t take your power away. We will give it back to you – tenfold. Give the customers what they need. Upload that great report you wrote for that manufacturing company. You will not only make other companies happy, but you will get work from it. When your customers purchase reports from other consultants – who do you think will install them? Tweak them?  We want to send you leads to make new reports for new customers. If you upload reports for a particular type of Industry ie. manufacturing, customers will source out your reports through a simple search. The beauty of the store is that you can upload anonymously too!

So give this a good long thought. I know it’s different. But unless your phone is ringing off the hook, and you don’t want to make money from something you’ve already done, give it a try.
