Why?  It's automatically calculated by the system with each transaction.  Anything you put in there would be overwritten very soon afterwards.  If it's wrong, correct the warehouse amounts (quantity / cost), and CI_Item would be updated by that adjustment.

Because the customer doesn't use inventory to keep track of costing(and now they will) and all costs are negative and the amounts are BIG... ran Sage's utilities and All tables got fixed except CI_Item.  The reason this happened is because they stopped doing the quaterly adjustments...

*UTL... run the inventory re-balancing utility if CI_Item average doesn't match the warehouse average value.

I am guessing the item has zero QoH (where hyanaga's answer would apply), or the utility can't do anything with that value since it is technically too big for the field size (but again, posting a transaction might help with that).
