If I understand you, I think you want the RMA module.

We are looking at that but this is the situation that I run into. We will sell a garbage truck to a customer with sales tax. (This may be a 2 or 3 page sales order because of all the options) then the customer decides to lease it and now we have to credit it out and re-invoice without sales tax because the leasing company will charge them sales tax per month.

Why can't you issue a credit memo for just the sales tax?

If we only do a credit memo for the sales tax, it will not change our sales tax reporting for our state sales tax. It will keep the dollars in the Retail (taxable) sales. At that time we need to move them to Wholesale (non-taxable) sales. Thank you for the ideas though.

I do this fairly regularly. My credit memo has two misc line items on it. One is a taxable line for the original sales amount, the second is a nontaxable line for the same amount but negative.

Screen four of data entry shows the two offsetting amounts in the taxable & nontaxable amount fields and the net invoice amount is just the sales tax.

Ahhhhhh, now I get it. That can be a fix but my understanding is that this is supposed to be in an upgrade and I was wondering when it was coming out. Thanks for the info.
