The 1099-NEC form will be released as part of the March 2020 target release.  Details on the implementation are not yet available.  Since the effective date is 1/1/2020 and usually 1099s are done at the end of the year this should not pose any issues.  This will be supported for the most current versions only.  If you are on v2017 or lower you will need to upgrade to a more recent version.

The issue with waiting until March is that payments to vendors will be coded to box 7 1099 Misc.  Will there be a conversion when the form is released to take anything from box 7 1099 Misc and recode it to box 3 1099-NEC?  

Sage has been researching how best to handle.  We have decided not to do something in conversion because we will be unsure of how users will setup their MISC form for 2020. Our current plans are a utility that will move box 7 misc to the new NEC if a customer has been using the 2020 forms like the 2019 forms. 

In addition to box 7 other 1099-MISC box changes for 2020 with payments will be included in the utility but the 2020 boxes must be the same as the 2019 boxes. 

When will the utility be released? 

The utility was included in Sage 100 2020, Sage 100 2019 Update 3 and Sage 100 2018 Update 9. See KB 103480.

Hi Gina, if a 3rd party enhancement is preventing client to upgrade/update to Sage 100 2020, Sage 100 2019 Update 3 or Sage 100 2018 Update 9, can you recommend any workarounds? Thanks

Hi dhalpin, did you come up with a workaround?

install a temporary sage 100 standard install for v2018 pu 10 on a workstation (or 2019.3, 2020.1)with GL, CI & AP and bring over GL, CI & AP files from the install you cannot upgrade. Then print the 1099s from there.
