Sage 100 2020 Memo Attachments

We were previously on Sage 100 2018 Advanced and just upgraded to Sage 100 2020.  In the previous version, users were able to put a PDF on a network share that is mapped locally on their machine to a drive letter.  Then they would navigate to that file using the memo attachment tool and select it.  Any time in the future, they could go in and click on that attachment and it would pull up without issue.  Now however, since the upgrade they are unable to do that.  Every step works exactly as it used to, EXCEPT when the click on the attachment to view it now nothing happens.  No error, no attachment.. just nothing.  The link is correct, their drive is mapped properly, and they can easily get to it manually inside the mapped drive letter without issue.

As a test, I uploaded a pdf to the UNC path instead of the mapped drive letter, and they are able to open it that way.  What has changed that would prevent mapped drives from working within Sage?  Is there some setting, or permission that I'm missing somewhere.  The memo manager permissions are all set properly for the modules we use.

  • I wouldn't recommended using mapped drives with the Advanced edition, you really should be using UNC paths anyway.

    Regarding your current issue, you should check that the server and account used to run the application server has the share mapped under the same driver letter as the users and the account running the application server needs to have appropriate NTFS permissions to the share.  It is odd that you could attach it in the first place but i have never tried using a mapped drive to do it so i can't comment on that.

    Opening the memo PDF "should" be a workstation function, and Windows services don't have access to mapped drives, but it's possible the v2018 service was running in application mode.

    Testing on my v2020 Standard I can't select a mapped drive in the Find File dialog for memo attachments.

    Yes the server has the same mapped drive letter (and it works on the server if you log into a client and try, just not on any workstations), and everyone has full access to the share.  It's been working flawlessly for years, the problem started when we upgraded to 2020.

    It is running identical to how the 2018 version was running.  Same server, all the same settings.  Nothing has changed unfortunately.  I'm at a loss.

    Is the Sage 100 v2020 running as an application or as a service?  If running as a service is the same user ID set up to execute the services as the old v2018 version?

    It is running as an application, same as the previous version was.

    Which button are you using to view the PDF in the memo?  Can you post a screenshot?

    I recall on version 2017 we had an issue where one of the preview buttons wouldn't work, but when we went into the memo the other button did. On version 2019 it's working as it should. Not sure if version 2020 broke something?
